  4. <p>The base is a USAFE standby facility which is periodically returned to active service to support ACC B-1B and B-52H bombers during NATO exercises. It was formerly a SAC KC-135 base as part of the European Tanker Task Force and was administered by the 11th SG until June 1990, when the last operational sortie was flown. The base is now administered by the 720th Air Base Squadron.
